Palma
In 1983, Palma became the capital of the newly established Balearic Islands autonomous region, and counts nowadays over 300,000 people. The center presents an ensemble of lively shopping areas, mazy lanes and refurbished old buildings. The remains of the old city walls and their replacement boulevards enclose Palma’s city center. Palma’s harbor has always been the city’s economic lifeline. Palma is beautiful and impressive with the cathedral towering above the old town and the remnants of the medieval walls. Sóller
Sóller is one of the most laid-back and enjoyable towns on Majorca. The town is known for its narrow lanes and old stone houses with its fancy grilles and big wooden doors, which once belonged to the region’s rich fruit merchants. All streets lead to the main square Plaça Constitució, which is known for its sunny cafés. The Port de Sóller is one of the most popular resorts on the west coast. Its horseshoe-shaped bay is the most photographed spot on the island. Take a 50 min stroll to the lighthouse, whose views out over the wild and rocky coast are spectacular, especially at sunset. Pollença
Pollença is a tranquil and ancient little town, which is situated among a trio of hill rocks where the Serra de Tramuntana fades into the coastal flatlands. The town was established a few kilometers from the seashore to militate against sudden pirate attacks with its harbor Port de Pollença. The main square Plaça Major has many little laid-back cafés. The church of Nostra Senyora dels Ángels has a sheer sun-bleached stone façade pierced by a rose window. However, Pollença’s main attraction is its Via Crucis (Way of the Cross), a long, steep and beautiful stone stairway, graced by ancient cypress trees, which ascends El Calvari (Calvary hill) directly north of the principal square.
